Marcellis Counts, Apiary in the Sky

NEWARK, NJ

Apiary in the Sky, LLC is a Newark-based for-profit company that focuses on beekeeping, agriculture and environmental redevelopment. We were founded in 2020 to improve the quality of life for residents by activating vacant lots and inactive corridors with urban farms, gardens, and apiaries. This removes years of neglect, and replaces it with sustainable solutions that add value to the natural ecosystem and community.

We work together with residents, schools, nonprofits and other stakeholders to empower residents around various public health issues, educate residents on the resources and skills needed to grow/prepare their own food, and train volunteers to be prepared to enter the green workforce.
