Judi Desire, Uptown and Boogie Healthy Project
New York, NY
Judith "Judi" Desire is a dedicated community leader and innovator in agribusiness, technology, and youth empowerment. With a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and over four years in advertising, Judi transitioned into the nonprofit sector to establish and grow farmers markets in Harlem and The Bronx, supporting food security and nutritional programs for local families. Since 2021, these markets have provided fresh produce and served as platforms for children's education and creative programming.
A beginner grower, Judi has been instrumental in reactivating a Central Harlem community garden, leading the design and construction of a year-round greenhouse. This space is a hub for community gardens across Upper Manhattan and The Bronx, supporting seedling production, composting, and educational workshops for all ages. Judi has created internship opportunities through partnerships with local colleges where young adults gain hands-on experience in agribusiness and technology.
Judi's commitment to community-driven development extends to mentoring young adults, coordinating impactful programs, and strengthening social connections through art and environmental sustainability projects.
